History and Past Shows
Our History
In the summer of 2003 Emily Sherman established Ever After Productions (EAP), a youth theater company dedicated to providing quality education for the children of Canton and the surrounding communities. EAP performed its first season out of Discovery Middle School’s auditorium, with casts averaging around 60 performers. In the fall of 2004, EAP moved to a new home, the Village Theater, which had just been built. For the next 5 years, EAP produced two musicals a season and began establishing a reputation as the premiere youth company in the area. Technical feats like flying, turntables, trap elevators, and revolving barricades became one of EAP’s signatures and set it apart from the typical children’s theatre company.
In the summer of 2009 EAP was on the verge of disbanding. Not wanting to see the company dissolve, the Choreographer, Deb Ash, and the Technical Director, Kyle Kaufmann, established Forever After productions to continue its mission. While Forever After inherited the reputation and customer base, the management structure changed considerably during the transition. With more staff, Forever After was able to grow much more rapidly than EAP had in its 6 years of existence. They continued to challenge themselves technically, successfully incorporating a rain system, pyrotechnics, and motorized set pieces into their performances, and enrollment numbers more than doubled between the 2009-2010 and 2012-2013 seasons. Now in its fourth season, Forever After has expanded its season from 2 shows to 7, more than doubled their drama camp offerings, added classes, and acquired their own rehearsal and scene shop spaces.
